A while back, some enthusiasts on the Internet put together a trailer of the Shining that made it look like a romantic comedy. A little more recently, some Chinese enthusiasts put together a parody of the Promise, a grandiose Lord of the Rings style Chinese production (download 50M video here).
Even more recently, the director of the Promise has publicly voiced a complaint against the makers of the parody. What does the Chinese blogosphere think? Mr. Director has lost face.
In fact, look at the photo the good people at Postshow dug up to represent him:
Do we want to put up a local copy (which guarantees its presence, but also means you’ll have to haggle the tech people)? The alternative is we could try to link to some forum posts on it on Baidu, which have a limited shelf life.
I prefer the former, so that we can build some sort of media pool (including the two Baidu commercials).
Can we get a link to the Promise sendup?
