Check out this hilarious ad from Chinese search engine, pointed out on Sam Flemming’s excellent blog. It features a depiction of a tall, white foreigner in a tophat [representing Google?] speaking a somewhat stupidly accented Chinese, holding the arm of a Chinese girl in a wig and a white wedding dress. CNNIC (China Internet Network Information Center) recently released (in pdf and ppt) its 17th Survey on the current development of the Chinese Internet. These twice-yearly surveys are Chinese governmental basic data on the Chinese ‘net. It’s not translated into English yet. In the meantime, some of the topline results:

Mao blocked by Google

Some guys were playing a game: to see who could modify their webpage so that their blog came out before the other in Google’s search when using Mao’s Little Red Book search words. Unfortunately they hit a problem! Certain keywords were blocked and their blogs didn’t come up on Google at all!
