DIY car mod, China
Posted on by Lyn Jeffery
As car culture grows in China, I can’t wait to see how Chinese enthusiasts customize their cars. Here’s a set of photos from Moobol/Molive (a photojournalism website) showing a DIY car interior complete with laptop and GPS.
As the caption says, “a this little QQ unexpectedly did has a completely modern remodel!” (I’m not familiar with the phrase “little/small QQ 一个小QQ but it’s cute). And: “it’s a second hand laptop with a touch screen, 1000 RMB (about US $125). You can listen to music and see your GPS location. There’s a GPS device that cost around 800 RMB (~ US $100) that allows you to know your location at any time via satellite.”
Some of these Chinese DIY innovations remind me of the way Japanese design innovations come about: haphazardly, and by trying many things. Though I don’t know if the Japanese designs I’m thinking of actually break through to the mainstream or that the real “innovations” (I’m thinking of the Wii right now) actually have R&D backing…
Just a rambly thought…
Isn’t QQ a reference to Chery’s QQ hatchback, which is allegely a copy of an American car? I saw a pretty cool sports car today that had custom-made letters stuck on the back of the car. The words Kobe Pham were on the left side and Lakers was written on the right side. And of course the car’s colour was the same yellow as the Los Angeles Lakers.
Of course! thanks for the clarification! Would love to learn more about any online car mod sites if you come across them.
summer beauty is night most. No doubt beautiful , jet-black bright dark moonlit night night, also has uncounted firefly sons dance trippingly. Be also having one two fireflies son in night, be flashing with the dim gleam in flying , this scene even if being a fine drizzle’s be charming.
